About our motorcycle Tours in Vietnam
Our motorcycle tours traverse Vietnam’s most compelling terrain from Hanoi through Ha Giang’s legendary mountain passes, northeast highlands including Cao Bang and Ba Be National Park, and northwest routes to Sapa’s terraced valleys and hidden villages no tourist ever step in (let’s bet on this).
Adventure riders explore off-road trails along the historic Ho Chi Minh Trail, connecting north to south through remote national parks.
With rides ranging from 5 to 21 days, we keep everything tailor-made, from full-board packages include quality accommodations, authentic Vietnamese cuisine, experienced guides, and ADV motorcycles built for Vietnam’s diverse landscapes.
What are the best motorbike tour packages available for exploring Vietnam?
The strongest motorcycle tour packages traverse Vietnam’s defining landscapes: Ha Giang’s mountain passes, Cao Bang’s waterfalls, Sapa’s terraced highlands, and the Ho Chi Minh Trail’s historic corridors. Quality operators provide full-board itineraries including accommodations, authentic cuisine, experienced guides, and adventure motorcycles suited for both paved highways and off-road exploration through national parks.
Ha Giang Tours
Ha Giang’s mountain passes deliver Vietnam’s most dramatic riding terrain. The Ma Pi Leng cliffside route carves through limestone peaks at 2,000 meters, while the Dong Van Karst Plateau reveals Hmong villages clinging to impossible slopes.
Tours are passing four mountain districts across paved switchbacks and challenging off-road sections, requiring 3-5 days. Riders navigate narrow passes where mist obscures valleys thousands of feet below, experience overnight stays in traditional stilt houses, and encounter terrain that tests both skill and nerve.

Northern loop tours
North Vietnam’s highlands connect Hanoi’s urban energy with wilderness across Cao Bang’s waterfalls, Ba Be’s pristine lakes, and Sapa’s terraced valleys.
These routes traverse the northeast’s limestone karst formations and the northwest’s ethnic minority regions. Itineraries span 7-14 days, combining paved highways with off-road exploration through multiple national parks.
Riders experience dramatic elevation changes, navigate remote border regions, discover hidden hot springs, and encounter diverse cultures from Tay fishing communities to Red Dao mountain villages.
The Full Length: Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City
Cross-country expeditions are adventures across Vietnam’s full length along the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail, connecting north to south across 1,800 kilometers. These comprehensive journeys require 14-21 days, threading through central highlands, coastal plains, and mountain ranges.
Riders experience every climate zone from northern mist-shrouded passes to southern tropical deltas, navigate historic war routes now reclaimed by jungle, and witness dramatic landscape transitions.
Full-board packages include varied accommodations from mountain lodges to coastal guesthouses, supporting continuous southward progression through Vietnam’s defining geography.
FAQs for motorcycle tours in Vietnam
Regulations differ by region: in Northern Vietnam, riders are generally allowed to pass with an International Driving Permit version 1968 ONLY (IDP) plus a valid home license, while in other areas a Vietnamese motorbike license may be required.
That said, after more than a decade of running tours, our experience shows that traffic cops and local authorities are usually more flexible with foreign riders.
If you ride carefully, follow your guide, and hold a valid IDP, you will rarely face issues. The main concern is insurance, which, many companies will not cover accidents if you don’t have a Vietnamese motorbike license.
So, is an international license valid in Vietnam? Yes, it is, however, always check your insurance coverage before you ride.
In Vietnam, the largest local insurers are Bao Viet (National Insurance Company) and Gras Savoye Willis (a French company). However, they do not cover riders without a Vietnamese motorbike license. Obtaining or converting to a local license is complicated and time-consuming and tourists are not eligible to apply for such a license, this usually required you to reside in Vietnam (work and live) and hold a valid work-permit.
Our motorbike packages are all included the following as a service:
1: Motorbike of your choice with all fuel
2: Quality accommodation with daily breakfast
3: Lunch & Dinner (by request)
4: Coffee, refreshing, tea, juice (2-3 times a day)
For your ride, make sure to pack the following before flying into Vietnam:
- Riding gear including jacket, helmet, gloves, boots (rubber boots for the rainy season), sunglasses/goggles, light jacket, extra jeans.
- Personal items: toiletries, sunscreen, cash, earplugs.
- Emergency items: first aid kit, medications, flashlight, chargers.
- Miscellaneous: towels, zip-bags, bungee cords, camera GoPro.
Your luggage, or anything not wanted during the ride can be safely stored by us. Additionally, the support truck can be arranged with additional cost.
Book directly through established operators based in Vietnam with verifiable offices in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, or Da Nang. Direct booking provides transparent pricing, fleet verification, and better accountability than third-party platforms.
Quality operators display detailed itineraries on their websites, specify accommodation types (private rooms, ensuite bathrooms, hotel standards), and offer full-board packages bundling lodging with meals, guide services, and support vehicles. Look for responsive communication, clear cancellation policies, and operators who clarify what “accommodation included” actually means, especially for remote areas like Ha Giang where lodging options narrow considerably.

Vietnam motorcycle tours range from 3 days to 3 weeks depending on route scope. Ha Giang Loop tours require 3-5 days for the 350km circuit through mountain passes. Northern Vietnam exploration spanning multiple provinces takes 7-10 days. Full cross-country expeditions from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City along the Ho Chi Minh Trail demand 14-21 days, covering 1,800+ kilometers. Coastal routes typically span 10-14 days. Duration depends on terrain difficulty, daily riding comfort (100-200km), weather conditions, and whether you build in rest days for particularly demanding mountain sections.
Operators offering beginner-friendly tours provide automatic motorcycles (Honda CB500X, Honda CRF or XR series, BMW GS), experienced guides, support vehicles, and routes emphasizing paved roads over technical terrain. Look for tours explicitly labeled “no experience required” with daily distances under 150km.
Beginner-suitable routes include Mai Chau’s valleys, Ba Be Lake circuits, and coastal highways from Hue to Hoi An, stunning scenery without Ha Giang’s cliff-edge exposure. Quality operators conduct pre-departure bike familiarization, assess comfort levels, and adjust pace accordingly while avoiding monsoon season departures.
